AmeriCorps is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2024! To recognize three decades of impact and service, ServeOhio hosted a celebration at the Ohio Statehouse this fall.
The Student Resource Centers (SRC) AmeriCorps members attended the event to celebrate, connect, and engage in a day of professional development.
At the 30th anniversary celebration, AmeriCorps members were given the opportunity to tour the Ohio Statehouse and learn more about its history, hear from inspiring speakers, and connect with AmeriCorps members from different programs around Ohio. Each AmeriCorps program created a poster representing the services they offer and the impact they have on their local communities.
AmeriCorps members had the chance to talk with fellow AmeriCorps members and program staff from around the state and learn more about the variety of programs they offer. AmeriCorps members participated in an activity where they each answered, “what does service mean to you?” and reflected on their months of service, thus far, to share their own unique reasons and show the common goal of all AmeriCorps members. ServeOhio hosted a service project where AmeriCorps members wrote notes and packaged hygiene products for those in need.

The celebration concluded with a keynote speaker who spoke about the Tablertown:
Community of Color, including its history and community impact. This was followed by an AmeriCorps alumni panel who shared their journey with service and provided motivation and encouragement. These stories resonated with AmeriCorps members and allowed everyone to connect on the basis of service.
