Webinar – Tackling Student Food Insecurity
October 17, 2018 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
According to research recently completed by Temple University and the Wisconsin HOPE Lab, 36% of college students today face food insecurity, 36% report facing housing security, and 9% report being homeless. These issues are significant barriers to student success. In this webinar, you will learn about a variety of ways in which higher education is tackling the issue of student food insecurity. We will then take a deep dive into Mount St. Joseph University’s “Be Concerned Supplemental Nutrition Program”, an innovative partnership with a local food pantry that provides supplemental food assistance to Mount students at no cost to the student or the University. The webinar will also provide an opportunity for participants to ask questions and brainstorm ideas on how to start food insecurity programs on other campuses.
