More than 30 Years of Engagement for Ohio's Public Good

A New Leader for Ohio Campus Compact

[GRANVILLE, OHIO] – The Board of Directors of Ohio Campus Compact has selected Stephanie L. Dodd as its Executive Director. This is the first change in leadership since 1997 for the thirty-year-old nonprofit organization, which advances the public purpose of colleges and universities by deepening their ability to improve community life and educate students for civic and social responsibility. Current Executive Director Richard Kinsley announced his impending retirement in the summer of 2020.

Dodd brings to her new role broad experience in education, public service and the nonprofit sectors. She served as an elected member of Ohio’s State Board of Education from 2013 through 2020 where she represented over one million constituents in Central, Southeastern and Eastern Ohio. Dodd launched her fundraising consulting company, SLD Consulting, in 2011 and began working with Ohio Campus Compact as a consultant in 2015.

Her connection to Ohio Campus Compact deepened when Dodd became Development Director. In 2019, she took on the additional role of Program Director to develop and lead the Compact’s newest initiative, Student Resource Centers. In both of her roles, Dodd identified funding sources, strengthened partnerships, and advanced efforts in support of the organization’s mission and vision.

As a member of the State Board of Education, Dodd served in leadership roles of various committees, led the effort to develop Ohio’s Strategic Plan for Education, and worked to enact a number of policies to support quality education efforts. She is known for asking tough questions and working collaboratively to enhance educational opportunities.

“It is an honor to follow in the footsteps of Dick Kinsley whose leadership has impacted student, faculty and staff lives across the state of Ohio,” Dodd said. “I look forward to working with our member campuses and building upon existing relationships while developing future partnerships to support the purposes of higher education. There is a great opportunity for Ohio Campus Compact to support degree and credential attainment while empowering students to become future leaders in our state and local communities.”

Dodd was born and raised in Zanesville, Ohio as a fifth-generation Appalachian. She is a first-generation college graduate with an undergraduate degree from the University of Cincinnati’s Carl H. Linder College of Business where she majored in Finance, Information Systems and Digital Business. Before launching her consulting business, she worked for a Fortune 500 telecommunications company in finance and government relations and a billion-dollar bank headquartered in southeastern Ohio. She lives in Granville, Ohio with her husband, Dan, and their three children.

“The combination of Stephanie’s leadership experience as a former member of the Ohio State Board of Education, development and programming experience at OCC, and business experience at the executive level have prepared her to lead OCC to new heights,” said the chair of the Ohio Campus Compact Board of Directors, William MacDonald. “She has an excellent understanding of higher education’s landscape, is adept at bringing people together to collaborate, and has a clear vision for OCC. Moreover, she is poised to work with OCC’s constituents to develop strategies to accomplish that vision.”

Dodd begins her new role April 1, 2022.
